Roots & Shoots
Roots and Shoots is an independent UNESCO award-winning educational and environmental charity based in Kennington, South London. From a derelict and polluted site in 1982, it has grown to become a thriving vocational training organisation with biodiverse wildlife gardens, offering a safe haven for both people and nature to flourish. www.rootsandshoots.org.uk
Although their staff and students undertake much of the garden maintenance as part of their training, it is not enough to fully maintain the large nature-rich site. They depend on volunteers to do some of the more practical activities which help underpin the high standard of the gardens, such as weeding, pruning, and making compost.
Volunteer Information
All volunteers will be provided with gloves plus the tools they need for the day, and are supervised by their expert gardeners, so regardless of gardening experience, everyone can get stuck in and make a positive impact. Please wear comfy clothes and sturdy shoes for a practical day outside in the gardens
